JamRare

About the project

JamRare is a web platform designed for the music industry where music meets blockchain technology. It would directly connect artists to their fans, create meaningful communities around art and allow musicians to take control of their music and make a living without having to be part of the music industrial complex.
I contributed end-to-end design through research, wireframing, visual design including responsive design.

Overview

Although there are a number of NFT marketplaces, there is no place designated only for music NFTs. JamRare is an NFT marketplace for exclusive music, where artists can sell their content without the involvement of the middle man. It’s a decentralized block chain platform. Fans can buy their favourite original music directly from the artist. Artists can manage royalties. It’s easier, faster, transparent and brings more value for their content. In the end of the fans, they want to find new ways to be a part of their favourite artists’ projects, and the concept of owning a part of the creative process means that fans no longer need to sit on the sidelines watching artists create from afar anymore. Therefore, JamRare is a great platform that solves problems of both the artists and fans and bridging the gaps while increasing the artist-fan engagement.

“It’s a great place to take my creative work to the fans quickly and easily. I don’t need to go after third parties to publish my work and in the end, I can make enough living for what I actually do.” - creators

Research

After interviewing few local musicians, and researching about the music industry, I analysed about other similar platforms and came up with the basic feautures we need for an MVP.

BRANDING AND VISUAL DESIGN

As this web application is related to music and related to keeping authenticity of original content, I wanted to give it a vintage expression through the visuals. While designing the UIs, I designed an Adaptive Web Design to make it more mobile friendly. Since the developer was going to use Ant Design Components, I used ant design system for most of the components.

Here are some UIs of JamRare.

I helped in creating and designing the pitch deck as well.

WORKING WITH DEVELOPERS

I worked closely with one engineer to develop the designs for MVP of JamRare. Throughout the project, from the start to the end, I was discussing, and asking a lot of questions to understand how things work in the blockchain technology. It was quite a new arena for me and this was my first blockchain and NFT related project.

TAKEAWAYS

This project was my first NFT related project and learnt a lot about how things work in the blockchain technology. Discussions with the developer helped me to understand a variety of things that we could use this technology in different products. Additionally, I learnt that using design systems such as Ant Design System, helps both the designer and the developer to quickly move forward with the product.
